I've got VBS PMS

If you peek in the window to my home, you might see my head spinning around and steam coming out of my ears. Don't worry. Everything (ahem, everyone) will be ok.

In a few weeks, that is.

After VBS is over. You see, I have VBS PMS. A pretty good case of it too. The lab coats are unavailable, the snack coordinator didn't realize she had other committments that week, and the sets aren't even beginning to look ready. My three year old wasn't much help in painting the beakers bright colors, but he did a great job getting his shirt bright.

Only a week left and the panic is starting to rise. Why did I say I would coordinate this? I mean, sure I could teach, but be in charge of EVERYTHING (read: get blamed when things blow up that aren't supposed to).

Oh dear.

I'd try to get out of it, but I think it's too late. Why did I sign up for this in the first place? Oh yeah, that's right. Because God asked me to. Bummer, can't get out of it now! :)

Don't worry about me.

Worry about everyone else!

Be encouraged!! God will pull it all together and soon you will be surrounded by children yelling "AHA" whenever they hear "Jesus gives us the power to..."

Take a deep breath - in through your nose, out through your mouth!

And yes, April is right, God will pull it all together. When we feel our weakest that's when He can do His best work!

I am sure the kids will love it and will learn a deeper side of Jesus!

Hang in there... it will all come together just as it should. And will be great fun once all those kids are together learning of the power of God.

Have a great VBS week!

Jesus, come for your girl.

Breathe your life in her.

Let her rest in your embrace.

Carry her worries for her.

Provide for all that you see is needed for VBS.

Let her lay down her expectations and follow you to that which You see is important.

Pour out an extra measure of grace.

Bring others to help carry the load.

Pour your love on her, over her, abundantly flowing through her.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come, Your strength, Your rest, Your purposes, Your plans...

Thank you dear friend for your sweet comments on my devo at the Cafe. It was one of my favorite ones to write, so far.

I have learned so much about the words that were spoken that I misinterpreted. God is an amazing healer.

Hugs,
Julie

I will pray for peace for you. That does sound like a lot to take on! I know God will do wonderful things.
If I were closer, I'd volunteer. I'll be stressing in a few weeks over ours.

All for the kingdom!

peace~elaine
Today we start the very same VBS! Wish you lived in our area we could help! Do you have any other churches in your area that has done this VBS that maybe you could ask for props from! My friend Diane coordinated out VBS for years! There were many times I prayed for her in my office while she cried about lack of volunteers, etc.... Feeling your pain, but know God will bless!

I taught 1st grade VBS this year. 18 boys and 2 girls. Almost every boy in the class had some letter label. ADD, LD, OCD, etc. I had to use a loving headlock one time.

By the end of the week I was crying to see them go. We developed a beautiful bond! It is SUCH a blessings to share God's love with children. See photos at

YOu will have fun and the songs will stick in your head for eternity :-)

Wow, Heather, it sounds so complicated for VBS. I have been noticing alot of little comments on your blog about this coming up, and now I see why, what a production!!

I was in charge of crafts for a few years and that in itself was a ton of work!! You go girl in the strength of God! His strength is perfect when our strength is gone, he'll carry us when we can't carry on, great is His power, the weak become strong, His strength is perfect...His strength is perfect(notice I am not scared to sing on a blog!!)ha ha

Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? by Phillip Yancey

Shannon, at Rocks in my Dryer , is hosting a huge giveaway! Isn't that exciting! I love to give something meaningful to my friends - as I shop, I always look for just the right item that fits our relationship and the individual's personality. So, if you stop by this little blog of mine, I think you might like this gift I've picked out. This fall, I have been nourished by the wisdom of Phillip Yancey in his recent book on prayer. Our Bible study has plumbed the depths of prayer with Yancey's help in this amazing book. My personal prayer life has been challenged and I have probed the deeper questions surrounding prayer with a beloved mentor. I would love for you to enjoy this book too. I'll be giving the book away to one blessed commenter. So, leave a comment here and I'll be drawing a name next week to give away this treasure box full of well-mined jewels from God's Word and life's experiences. Don't forget to leave a comment to be entered in the draw

Thankful Thursday

A few things that fill my heart with gratitude... *Bright explosions in the sky *Bug repellent *Calamine and band aids for when we forget about the bug repellent (and the polka dot girl I put to bed each night whose sensitive skin seems to attract the little suckers) *Days spent at the beach *Life jackets *Aloe, although it can't take away a lobster red sunburn, it does soothe *Photographs and memories *The public library. My family has been enjoying plenty of summer library programs. *Ok, I'm even thankful for cockroaches. The kids sure had fun playing with the huge ones the "Bug Guy" Brought in for the last program we attended. They even ate a few bugs. (I am NOT joking!) I, on the other hand, found it conveniently necessary to excuse myself to the restroom right around the time the roaches and tarantulas were being brought out. *I'm thankful for a new job...which will be starting soon (more on that later). *Green slime, explosions, goggles and lab coats...yes,

In REAL Life

This week, I've been thankful for some "real" life fun with people I love. Here's ONE: Yesterday morning, the kids started the day out with some Karaoke fun. The first song requested was "Shine" by the Newsboys and I smiled as the kids bounced around in the family room to this song. Our little guy then asked for his favorite: Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie. Don't ask me why. But hearing a three year old boy sing about big girls crying is just adorable. We progressed to "Big Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstill. I have no idea what she means (why not a black kitten and an apple tree?), but the kids love the "whoo-hoo" part and that's all that really matters. Whoo-hoo....whoo-hoo! And the last song, a favorite of all, "Mr. Roboto" by STYX. Oh yeah. We shine our light for Jesus in Robot style around our house. Three little robots marched around with jerky movements singing word-for-word the entire song. Here'
