This has been a difficult week as my church has fought off the attacks of the enemy. I've spent countless hours praying and crying for my dear friend, the associate pastor's wife, as she is on the front line of the battle. It's not my story, so I don't feel the freedom to share it, but it isn't a good story to tell.
I've mourned this week. I've wondered how to answer questions with anything but emptiness. What has stuck with me is that God is still in control.
Man is not trustworthy. But God is.
Hebrews 13:5
God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."6So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"
I'm thankful that God is both a rock and a refuge. He is faithful and He is strong.
This weekend, I will be working with other ladies from church at our yearly women's retreat. I was unexpectedly asked to speak for a few sessions. I'm excited to see God move and to hear Him speak because I know that I haven't had the time to pour any of my flesh into this message.
Praise God that even when life gets topsy turvy, He's still in charge and He's still totally trustworthy.
Thanks Iris, for continually reminding us to offer up a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving.

I hope that your women's retreat will be refreshing to you and all women attending.
Yes - God is trustworthy. At least we have one Constant in life.
Thank you for sharing your grateful heart with us, despite the sorrow you are experiencing right now.
Be blessed today and always...
I'm so sorry to read about the struggles going on at church. I'm so blessed you have been faithful in warfare.
And I'm excited to read about your opportunity to teach at your retreat! God is truly using you these days.
Yes, God is truly trustworthy!
In my situation, God was indeed in control and though I don't understand it, I can see great things that have come from it, things that were needed in my life. I pray for your friend this morning too.
You know the words just came to me...
"no storm can shake my inmost calm when to this ROCK I'm clinging..."
He is always in control....
Those ladies are in for a blessing this weekend....what a gift you will give them!!
hugs,
lori
That is exciting!
You are so much braver than I am. I have to speak at my CBS women's bible study next week and I have been struggling through what to say. I can't imagine putting it together last minute. God has given me the words but it has taken a lot of time and prayer! Enjoy your time and I will pray for your entire congregation!
God bless you as you as He speaks through you this weekend. And may He bring healing and unity to your group of women.
