Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian - The Call

Last night, my husband and I enjoyed the new release in the Narnia series: "Prince Caspian." There were so many moments that caught my attention.

Is God still around when we can't see Him? When He doesn't swoop in and rescue us? Can we have faith like the child Lucy, trusting in God's power even when it is unseen?

What makes a good leader? Someone with experience or someone with a heart for the people? Or someone whose trust is completely in God and not in self?

My favorite moment was when Prince Caspian sees Aslan for the first time. He says he doesn't feel ready to be the king. Aslan responds, "That's how I KNOW you are ready."

The battles in this epic story are imaginary, but they represent the battles we face every day in this world. Battles for freedom and the hope of peace.

I dedicate this song to the men and women who have fought for our country bravely, trusting in something, SomeOne bigger than themselves.

That's neat that you were able to see so many spiritual messages in the movie. I especially like your questions about leadership. Yesterday, I read about Deborah and now I'm working on posts about women in leadership. I think that a good leader is someone that is available to God, and will serve however He wants them to. That definitely takes a lot of trust in Him and denying self interests.

I just saw Prince Caspian a couple days ago. I too was caught by so many scenes. Particularly where Lucy finally reaches Aslan and she says she wanted to come when he called but the others didn't believe and he said something like, "Why would that stop you?"

Other people's unbelief can often seem like a good excuse (for me) not to follow God's call.

Great song too.

I saw the movie a week ago with my husband and some friends. I thoroughly enjoyed it although the ending surprised me because I haven't read the books!

I wasn't able to watch the video clip for some reason. I'm going to see if I can find it on-line.

Maddie just finished the book....and we are all in the process of "earning" this treat!!:)

Seeing the lion brings so much emotion to the surface for me; how clever of C.S. Lewis to use a lion, the King of the jumgle to symbolize the King of our jungle.

Thankful Thursday

A few things that fill my heart with gratitude... *Bright explosions in the sky *Bug repellent *Calamine and band aids for when we forget about the bug repellent (and the polka dot girl I put to bed each night whose sensitive skin seems to attract the little suckers) *Days spent at the beach *Life jackets *Aloe, although it can't take away a lobster red sunburn, it does soothe *Photographs and memories *The public library. My family has been enjoying plenty of summer library programs. *Ok, I'm even thankful for cockroaches. The kids sure had fun playing with the huge ones the "Bug Guy" Brought in for the last program we attended. They even ate a few bugs. (I am NOT joking!) God's Encouragement

I am thankful this week for so much, but I have to share my little piece of encouraging news first. I submitted a little article to our newspaper and then I found out they don't accept unsolicited submissions, so I forgot all about it. Then, in our paper today, I saw my article! It was a little encouragement from God to keep plowing away at this writing thing even when it seems difficult. He is so tender-hearted toward me, I feel overwhelmed! I'm also thankful for the world class concert I attended today. I would have paid top notch prices for this concert which played out in a small bedroom with a karaoke. The first artist was a young singer who wrote her own music (straight from her heart) and the song was something about glorifying God by loving Him in all we do. She sang as she danced about in her ballerina costume. Next up was a short toucan with a toddler face peeping out and a loud voice.
