Thankful Thursday

It's that time again. Time to count my blessings one by one and to remind my heart of all He's done.

Thank you Jesus for Your love - beyond limits, beyond comprehension and unalterable.

Thank you Savior, redeemer and friend for providing the right man to complement me, encourage me and love me like You would. I could never have imagined someone better. I wouldn't be who I am today without him.

Thank you Father for entrusting me with three treasures to mold and protect and teach. Thanks for their infectious joy and love for life.

Thank you Lord for friends who understand and care about life's challenges. Thank you for bringing me a special friend right now when I needed it so much.

Thank you God, that I can trust You with my future. You know my dreams, my hopes and my desires and You are ultimately in control. Thank you that You are trustworthy and I can rest knowing my future is in Your hands.

Go find more thanksgiving here.

The way you worded your list made it sound beautiful! You must be a writer. (Ok, I see that now in your sidebar.) I love your list. I'm feeling especially thankful about the husband God gave me as well this TT! God bless you!

I love how you referred to your children as "three treasures to mold and protect and teach." Beautiful imagery there, Heather. I can't help but laugh right now because I just cleaned pizza out of one of my treasure's hair!! HeHe, this mommy thing is fun!!

Any job leads yet? I'm praying for you!!

Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? by Phillip Yancey

Shannon, at Rocks in my Dryer , is hosting a huge giveaway! Isn't that exciting! I love to give something meaningful to my friends - as I shop, I always look for just the right item that fits our relationship and the individual's personality. So, if you stop by this little blog of mine, I think you might like this gift I've picked out. This fall, I have been nourished by the wisdom of Phillip Yancey in his recent book on prayer. Our Bible study has plumbed the depths of prayer with Yancey's help in this amazing book. My personal prayer life has been challenged and I have probed the deeper questions surrounding prayer with a beloved mentor. I would love for you to enjoy this book too. I'll be giving the book away to one blessed commenter. So, leave a comment here and I'll be drawing a name next week to give away this treasure box full of well-mined jewels from God's Word and life's experiences. Don't forget to leave a comment to be entered in the draw...

Women of Influence Part II

What and who has influenced me as a woman to be a strong leader and to be where I am today ( Part I here )? When I was a young woman, I remember being a bit affronted with the image of the  Proverbs 31  wife - the Bible's example of the perfect woman, the almost impossible unattainable goal.  The trouble was, I saw her as someone who was just a little TOO perfect, too industrious (can anyone say "workaholic") and definitely too much like the 1950's conservative image of a homemaker.  I had a terrific example of motherhood in my own mom who cooked healthy meals for us, loved to be silly and celebrate with panache, made my dresses and gave me a wonderful childhood free of worries.  However, as a new mom, I felt very strongly about being labeled as "just a mom" - I didn't want motherhood to be what defined me.  I wanted to make my mark on the world and do Big things for God and I just didn't think that searching out the right food for mealtime or ke...

Thankful Thursday

A few things that fill my heart with gratitude... *Bright explosions in the sky *Bug repellent *Calamine and band aids for when we forget about the bug repellent (and the polka dot girl I put to bed each night whose sensitive skin seems to attract the little suckers) *Days spent at the beach *Life jackets *Aloe, although it can't take away a lobster red sunburn, it does soothe *Photographs and memories *The public library. My family has been enjoying plenty of summer library programs. *Ok, I'm even thankful for cockroaches. The kids sure had fun playing with the huge ones the "Bug Guy" Brought in for the last program we attended. They even ate a few bugs. (I am NOT joking!) I, on the other hand, found it conveniently necessary to excuse myself to the restroom right around the time the roaches and tarantulas were being brought out. *I'm thankful for a new job...which will be starting soon (more on that later). *Green slime, explosions, goggles and lab coats...yes,...
