Encouragement

I'm the kind of person who needs regular encouragement to keep on going. And, I'm so grateful for friends who keep encouraging me often. My husband is my greatest source of encouragement - praying for me and constantly lifting me up with his words.

My real life friends have listened to me pour out my heart and have prayed over me, releasing the power of the Holy Spirit to encourage and lift up my soul.

My bloggy friends find ways to remind me that this blog matters, that who I am and what I do and say glorify God, which is what it's really all about. You ladies can't imagine how much these things lift my spirits! Blogging has become more than just a writing outlet, but a place to make friendships. For each of you, I am very thankful!

Thank you friends - thank you for ministering to me with encouragement! The following awards are from Denise and Robin and Susan.

I'd like to pass on these awards to some new ladies I've met through Proverbs 31 ministries:

Lysa TerKeurst, director of Proverbs 31 Ministries
Renee Swope, Lysa's cohort :)
Miss Sandy
Amy Brooke

And to some real life friends who have been an encouragement to me in this writing journey:

Mary Pierce, aka the "laugh lady"
Cindy Ruchti

Thank you Father for the encouragers You've sent my way!

Heather, you blessed my socks off! Now what am I going to do? It's 29 below zero with the wind chill today! Not the day to go sockless! (I will happily cope, for the joy of your kind words. Keep writing, Heather. You are serving a beautiful purpose with beautiful words).

Words of encouragement are fuel for the soul. I need them, too!! Have you ever done the 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman? You probably are a words of affirmation girl. So is my husband...well, not the girl part!

I hope you are keeping warm up there. I hope it hits above zero so you can get out and get some fresh air!!

Thanks! That is a day maker.

It came through via email this morning to link to find out and I can't link "social" things there, so I had to wait until I got home. It was fun!

It is good getting to know you!

Colossians 2:2 in action here! ~ "...that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself."

Bless you, dear one!

You have been tagged! (You may or may not be happy about this.) Try to think of it as an opportunity to canvas your brain for truly random yet enlightening info on yourself and make others chuckle. I think it is a blogging coummunity kind of thing. I'm not totally sure what I think, but someone tagged me, so . . . . If you check out my site, I even share a magic trick that you can use to awe and amaze those around you!

Heather,

You are a wonderful writer. But more, you are a child of God seeking to know His will for your life and sharing His love along the way. I am so glad that you do. I have been blessed by you so often. Here at your place and through your kind and encouraging words.

Wonderful post. Love you, Lynn

Heather, what you send into the lives of others truly does come back to you tenfold. You received encouragement because you so freely give it to others. You are a blessing!

Heather, you ARE such an encourager!! Thank you for your sweet words of grace that are living water to those who thirst for hope and grace. Lysa and I were talking the other day about how our love languages are "words of encouragement" and how much we feel loved by our bloggy friends. You are one of those that God uses to love on me and help me to keep writing even when I don't know where I'm going when I start a post.

Blessings and encouragement back to you! Have a great weekend.

You are so right, Heather. God places people into our lives that encourage us. It is wonderful to know what others lift us in prayer and speak words of encouragement.

I truly enjoy the Proverbs 31 ministry. I get their magazine and read their devotional blog.

Thank you so much for sharing your grateful heart with us this week.

Be blessed today and always.
You are truly deserving! Every time I pop over here I am refreshed and inspired!

Take Care,
Melissa

Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? by Phillip Yancey

Shannon, at Rocks in my Dryer , is hosting a huge giveaway! Isn't that exciting! I love to give something meaningful to my friends - as I shop, I always look for just the right item that fits our relationship and the individual's personality. So, if you stop by this little blog of mine, I think you might like this gift I've picked out. This fall, I have been nourished by the wisdom of Phillip Yancey in his recent book on prayer. Our Bible study has plumbed the depths of prayer with Yancey's help in this amazing book. My personal prayer life has been challenged and I have probed the deeper questions surrounding prayer with a beloved mentor. I would love for you to enjoy this book too. I'll be giving the book away to one blessed commenter. So, leave a comment here and I'll be drawing a name next week to give away this treasure box full of well-mined jewels from God's Word and life's experiences. Don't forget to leave a comment to be entered in the draw...

Thankful Thursday

A few things that fill my heart with gratitude... *Bright explosions in the sky *Bug repellent *Calamine and band aids for when we forget about the bug repellent (and the polka dot girl I put to bed each night whose sensitive skin seems to attract the little suckers) *Days spent at the beach *Life jackets *Aloe, although it can't take away a lobster red sunburn, it does soothe *Photographs and memories *The public library. My family has been enjoying plenty of summer library programs. *Ok, I'm even thankful for cockroaches. The kids sure had fun playing with the huge ones the "Bug Guy" Brought in for the last program we attended. They even ate a few bugs. (I am NOT joking!) I, on the other hand, found it conveniently necessary to excuse myself to the restroom right around the time the roaches and tarantulas were being brought out. *I'm thankful for a new job...which will be starting soon (more on that later). *Green slime, explosions, goggles and lab coats...yes,...

God's Encouragement

I am thankful this week for so much, but I have to share my little piece of encouraging news first. I submitted a little article to our newspaper and then I found out they don't accept unsolicited submissions, so I forgot all about it. Then, in our paper today, I saw my article! It was a little encouragement from God to keep plowing away at this writing thing even when it seems difficult. He is so tender-hearted toward me, I feel overwhelmed! I'm also thankful for the world class concert I attended today. I would have paid top notch prices for this concert which played out in a small bedroom with a karaoke. The first artist was a young singer who wrote her own music (straight from her heart) and the song was something about glorifying God by loving Him in all we do. She sang as she danced about in her ballerina costume. Next up was a short toucan with a toddler face peeping out and a loud voice. His arms moved to the music as he told us "My God is so big, so stwo...
