Encouragement



I'm the kind of person who needs regular encouragement to keep on going. And, I'm so grateful for friends who keep encouraging me often. My husband is my greatest source of encouragement - praying for me and constantly lifting me up with his words.

My real life friends have listened to me pour out my heart and have prayed over me, releasing the power of the Holy Spirit to encourage and lift up my soul.

My bloggy friends find ways to remind me that this blog matters, that who I am and what I do and say glorify God, which is what it's really all about. You ladies can't imagine how much these things lift my spirits! Blogging has become more than just a writing outlet, but a place to make friendships. For each of you, I am very thankful!

Words of encouragement are fuel for the soul. I need them, too!! Have you ever done the 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman? You probably are a words of affirmation girl. So is my husband...well, not the girl part!

I hope you are keeping warm up there. I hope it hits above zero so you can get out and get some fresh air!!

You have been tagged! (You may or may not be happy about this.) Try to think of it as an opportunity to canvas your brain for truly random yet enlightening info on yourself and make others chuckle. I think it is a blogging coummunity kind of thing. I'm not totally sure what I think, but someone tagged me, so . . . . Heather, you ARE such an encourager!! Thank you for your sweet words of grace that are living water to those who thirst for hope and grace. Lysa and I were talking the other day about how our love languages are "words of encouragement" and how much we feel loved by our bloggy friends. You are one of those that God uses to love on me and help me to keep writing even when I don't know where I'm going when I start a post.

You are so right, Heather. God places people into our lives that encourage us. It is wonderful to know what others lift us in prayer and speak words of encouragement.

I truly enjoy the Proverbs 31 ministry. I get their magazine and read their devotional blog.

Thankful Thursday

A few things that fill my heart with gratitude... *Bright explosions in the sky *Bug repellent *Calamine and band aids for when we forget about the bug repellent (and the polka dot girl I put to bed each night whose sensitive skin seems to attract the little suckers) *Days spent at the beach *Life jackets *Aloe, although it can't take away a lobster red sunburn, it does soothe *Photographs and memories *The public library. My family has been enjoying plenty of summer library programs. *Ok, I'm even thankful for cockroaches. The kids sure had fun playing with the huge ones the "Bug Guy" Brought in for the last program we attended. They even ate a few bugs. (I am NOT joking!) God's Encouragement

I am thankful this week for so much, but I have to share my little piece of encouraging news first. I submitted a little article to our newspaper and then I found out they don't accept unsolicited submissions, so I forgot all about it. Then, in our paper today, I saw my article! It was a little encouragement from God to keep plowing away at this writing thing even when it seems difficult. He is so tender-hearted toward me, I feel overwhelmed! I'm also thankful for the world class concert I attended today. I would have paid top notch prices for this concert which played out in a small bedroom with a karaoke. The first artist was a young singer who wrote her own music (straight from her heart) and the song was something about glorifying God by loving Him in all we do. She sang as she danced about in her ballerina costume. Next up was a short toucan with a toddler face peeping out and a loud voice. His arms moved to the music as he told us "My God is so big, so stwo...
